Romanians in the UK: Post-Brexit Challenges, Opportunities & Next Steps

In December 2017, the EU and UK reached agreement on the post-Brexit rights of EU citizens already residing in the UK and British citizens in the EU. This was a top priority for both the UK and the EU, in recognition of the contribution these people make to British and European society and culture and a desire to ensure that that they could get on with their lives broadly as they do now..

In the first of a series of events that will take place in the UK and Romania, this event aims to explore how we will deliver on that agreement. Officials from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Home Office and other government departments will set out some of the issues that will affect Romanians who have made the UK their home, including access to health, pensions, benefits, the meaning of “settled status” and how citizens can apply. There will also be a chance to raise concerns and to ask questions.
