URGENT CASTING CALL – DIASPORA SHORT FILM
Descriere
ROLE: THE PHOTOGRAPHERWe are currently casting for one remaining role in our short narrative film Diaspora, being developed and produced as part of our final year of the BA Filmmaking course at UWE Bristol.
Set in 1970s Britain, Diaspora follows a newly migrated Cypriot man applying for a British passport. His encounter with a Balkan-born photographer becomes the emotional core of the film, as both men are forced to confront memories of displacement, identity, and belonging. The story is intimate and character-driven, set largely within a photography studio, and relies on quiet tension, emotional restraint, and subtle performance.
We are looking to cast The Photographer, a Balkan or Eastern European man (playing age approximately 50s–70s) who has settled in Britain after leaving his homeland. The character is reserved, guarded, and shaped by lived experience. Acting experience is welcome but not essential; we are primarily interested in authenticity, presence, and emotional truth.
DETAILS:
- Shooting is scheduled for 22nd–26th February in Bristol
- Availability across these dates is required
- Applicants should be based in or able to stay locally in Bristol or nearby
- This is an unpaid student project, with travel expenses and food covered
The film is intended for university assessment, portfolio use, and festival submission.
